First card and blog mini make over for 2010-01-01 Well today is the 1^st January 2010. Where did this last decade go to huh.

Murray and I went for a mini bush walk this afternoon up at Awa Awa Rata Reserve about 15 minutes west of methven and just up from the

Mt Hutt ski field. Had a lovely walk and we didn't get all the way up the track that I wanted to go to either. Not quite there fitness wise so

I guess this means I need to work harder at the gym from now on. I am going back tomorrow (Saturday) and will try to go most days from

The Pink elephant colour challenge #31 and the Mojo Monday sketch challenge #103

I have combined two card challenges here with this card for these 2 sketch and colour challenges that I am taking part in this week.

The Pink elephant challenge for this week is a colour challenge of red, yellow black and white. and so I combined that with the Mojo Monday challenge sketch for this week also.

I used red cardstock for the base card, yellow core'dinations cardstock for the first layer, the black strips were cuttlebugged using my trusty Swiss dots foldera and the Hi/hello stamp is from Hero Arts. Hope you like my take.

80th birthday card made for my Uncle Graham

My Uncle Graham turns 80 this next weekend and I wanted to do a special card for him reaching this mileston so I designed this card using the Happy Birthday Cuttlebug A2 embossing folder, this die from the Making memories Slice die cutting machine that looks like a house and the red cardstock as the card base. My uncle is very much a home person as well as loving to play golf watch rugby and cricket and Harness horse racing and as I had used gof and rugby cards for him for past birthdays I decided it was time to do something different this year.

Here is my take on the http://thepinkelephantchallenge.blogspot.com/ for their challenge #30 which was the recipe challenge where you had to make a card using two squares, ribbon and something that sparkles.

It took me a few days to work this one out and of course I just had to try my new Making Memories slice die cutting machine to make the squares with rather than the Nestabilities scalloped squares that I have.

My Australian friend Libby http://libbysscrapz.blogspot.com/ has given me this new award. Libby has an amazing blog and well worth visitng. I love her Cuttlebug cards that she is constantly making and hearing and seeing the photos of her husband Bob and her family as well.

What you are supposed to do is list 5 things that you like to do and then send this award onto 5 people whom you think deserve to get it also.

I made these cards over last weekend while at my respite care work. I was trying out my new Stampin Up stamps and the week of Mojo Monday sketches from http://www.mojomonday.blogspot.com/ that they had to celebrate them having 100 sketches.

Well have been playing with my new forest friends Stampin up set from the mini catalogue that I got earlier this week from my local Stampin Up dealer. I made these two cards this afternoon whilst I was playing. I can see loads of different ways to use this set for sure. Hope you like my cards.

I had to make an Accordion stair step card for another swap on one of my Yahoo groups so have combined the two in one go this time.

I had a good weekend of respite work this one just gone. My lady slept most of the time. She said all she wanted to do was sleep so that meant I had time on my hands to do cards. I finished up by making 9 over the two days including about 3 Christmas cards. Here they for you to see.

Made some cards today

Well I have had a nice afternoon in my craft room this afternoon and managed to make 3 cards one of these being another Christmas card in which I used the Cuttlebug Christmas tree folder and trimmed it with blue rhinestones and some blue Christmas ribbon.

I had also made a Wedding Anniversary card for a friend as well. I used one of the Cuttlebug flower border folders shaded it with Red Versacolour Ink and used some paper flowers from Kaisercrafts. I did this card using the gatefold style.

The third card I made is for one of my August swaps that I am on. It is using vellum so I rolled this through the Bug using my new Victorian Cuttlebug embossing folder which seems to work pretty well with vellum as I have found. I also used Kaisercraft blue flowers for this too and some nice blue patterned ribbon that I brought from my local scrapbook store.

Here is my colour challenge of Brown,turquoise and a neutral colour over at the http://thepinkelephantchallenge.blogspot.com/ for this week.

I used my new Victorian Cuttlebug embossing folder which I am finding is a very versatile folder to use. I also used the Spellbinders Butterfly set and some pink cosgrain ribbon that I got from my local Spotlight store a while ago.

Hi just a quick posting here before leaving for my eye surgery.

Here is a couple of more cards that I made over the weekend. One is for a textured Paper swap and the other is for a Cute card swap on two of the Yahoo groups that I belong to. Hope you like what I have done. I am happy with the end result.

One day out from eye surgery

Well I only have today to go before I go and have the left eye cataract removed tomorrow (Monday 10th August) up in Christchurch. It will certainly be great to have it all over with that is for sure as i do have a few things happening this coming week mainly respite care which doesn't involve anything that will affect my eye and I have decided that on Wednesday I will go back to light duties at the school and Murray will help me for the rest of the week I hope.

My respite work yesterday went well and boy the day just flew along.

The weather we have been having over here has been great but I do wonder about having a long hot dry Summer and possibly drought this year as we haven't had rain for about a month now.

I went along to my monthly Cuttlebug class last Tuesday morning at Elsa's. It was good to see so many new ladies there too. We made 5 cards for the morning and I liked all of what we did this time.

Blogging again at last

Well after nearly two months of not being able to get near my blogger I have been able to give it a face lift today by changing my background and changing the music list once more. I thought that I would add some of my favourite Michael Jackson music seeing as he is no longer with us. The two songs I chose are my all time favourites of Michael's music. I also added two songs from one of my favourite New Zealand music groups Crowded House. Hope you enjoy this short selection at this time.

Life has certainly been rather hectic especially with my respite care work, Tai Chi classes and acupuncture that I have been going to or doing on a regualr basis.

I now have my left eye cataract surgery rescheduled for the 10th August which is in one week's time so hopefully as I sit writing this at 2.15pm in the afternoon that this time next week I will be in theatre getting the left eye done and as Steve my Tai chi instructor tells me I will be a "bionic woman"!!!!!.

I have been doing cards as usual mainly over the weekends that I am doing the care work as I have time to fill in as my lady sleeps a lot.

Last week I purchased from my friend Cheryl of Stamping Fun Limited 4 of the newest Cuttlebug folders. When I first saw these folders on the net I was not all that impressed as I think that a lot of people had been but then I decided that I would get the Victorian and Moroccan screen folders , really liked them so decided to get another couple of them this time The Owl flourish folder and the Flourish frame folder. and out of the four that I have purchased so far I really like the Victorian anf Flourish frames the best.

I will add some photos of the cards that I have made using the flourish frame .

I know that what I have done is a clean and simple card but I still think it is rather effective. Hope you all do as well.

The paper is from an unknown source. The punch is a shell punch not sure which company though that it came from and the "Friendship" stamp is from a Hero Arts stamp set of sentiments that I have had a while now.

This week's challenge over at http://thepinkelephantchallenge.blogspot.com/ was to create a card made using the following recipe of 3 buttons, 2 layers and a sentiment and then over at http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/ I incorporated their week#89 challenge to make this Christmas card for both challenges.

The paper I picked up at my local scrapbook shop and is a paisley design but I thought it would be suitable for Christmas cards as well. I used my Spellbinders scalloped circle dies for the circle and then ran it through the Cuttlebug using that old trusty Swiss Dots folder yet once again. I also got the flowers from the local scrapbook shop as I did the green buttons as well.

Hope that you all like the card that I have made too.
