Welcome in 2012

Well here I am back to welcome in 2012. I for one hope it will be a lot better than 2011 although I know that I have to face the reality that my brother in law won't be with us for much longer and even he knows that too as I learned from having a phone conversation with him the other night.

Hopefully 2012 will mean less earthquakes for us as well.2011 was certainly full of them.

I have been making cards some for the Spiritsparkplugs Ministry that I am part of and this is my charity of chocie for card making and charity work for 2012.

I am just waiting for my Becky Higgins Project Life order to arrive. This will be a work in progress for 2012 and I am not sure yet whether I will do it as a daily thing or go back and do it slightly different by putting all my old photos into this system.

I will finish this rambling by uploading my first swap card for 2012 which is a card map for one of my Yahoogroups called RubberstampingAngels.

Here is that card. I am more than happy with it. Hope you like it too.

Family Stuff

Last post for today seeing as I am now on a roll with the blogging again.
I have had some not so good family stuff going down this past couple of weeks. Had a phone call from one of my nephews to tell me that his father is dying of throat cancer. he wasn't expected to last last week but we are now another week on and he is still with us but I don't know whether or not this is good or bad especially leading up to Christmas Day.
It also brings back memories as tomorrow it will be 12 years since a very special aunt died and then on 28 January it will be 12 years since my Mum died.
Not really into Christmas this year. I don't have any decorations up just the lovely Christmas cards that I have been receiving.
And on Christmas Day we are going to go to the Community luncheon being held in town again.

At last I am back into blogging. Decided it was time to give this blog a minor uplift for Christmas seeing as I now have more free time to be on here again.
Love this Christmas Tree design that I found at Dotty Dot Dot's pages and seeing as its so very warm and muggy down here in New Zealand at present I thought the blue feel of the page would cool me down somewhat.

I will also add some photos first up these will be of the Birthday cards that I received last month for my birthday

card class cards from 9th June 2011

I was able to go to card making classes at my local stamp shop this last week.
We did 3 cards during the 2 hour class.
The first one was a variation on a pocket card which I really enjoyed doing.
The second card was a different fold card kind of like a gatefold card with a twist is what I would call it and then the last card we did was a technique card using the versamark ink and chalk resist technique.
I did another card when I got home using one of my flower stamps and that came out really well.

thinking of you/sympathy card that I made today

A Australian friend of mine's husband has just died so I have made this thinking of you card to send to her.

I used my new CheeryLynne lattice die #2 as the main focal point of the card. The I'm thinking of you is a Cuttlebug die that i haven't used in a very long time and I used the snowflake punch to make the flowers this time. The Cross that I used was part of a Religious sticker sheet that I had on hand.

Cling wrap background technique

Had another afternoon playing with different background techniques. This time I was using crinkled up cling wrap as we call it in New Zealand and of course using my chalk inks.
I only have 3 different coloured chalk inks and so at the same as making this card i stamped up another couple of backgrounds with the same technique for future cards.

This is the completed technique again I am really enjoying trying the back to basic techniques just now.

been playing with wax paper resist techniqes

Hi all have been playing today with this wax paper resist technique that i am doing as a swap on one of my internet groups.
I am more than happy with the finished project and like doing backgrounds like this.Only problem I had to buy the waxed paper for it as I only had baking paper in the house and that didn't work and crumpling the paper as seen on http://www.stamptv.com/ website I liked this effect a whole lot better.

Wednesday 13th April 2011card class cards and more

Here I am again with another post this time to show you the two cards we made at class this last Wednesday one was done using the technique of paper piecing and that card was the poppies card photo I made, the second one was like a gatefold card with a square punched hole punched out at the bottom of the card.
And then yesterday in the mail I got my new bookatrix board that my friend Anne in Australia got for me off e-bay. I spent the afternoon playing with and made this lovely pink bookatrix birthday card.
The teddy bear card is my attempt at paper piecing I wanted to keep it simple so this is why I used the teddy bear stamp this time and I also used my new Spellbinders Fancy Tags.

Here is my first card that I made for the Happy Easter theme. It is a stand up card
My recipe for this card is Designer Paper is the English Rose 6x6 pad from Kaisercraft

I used my new nestabilites Fancy Tags set for the Happy Easter sentiment which is from the Hero Arts range of stamps and for embellishments I used this lovely set of butterflies from Craftworks.
The ink used is Stamp It Hot Pink and the cardstock I think is called Flying colours from The Warehouse Stationery a New Zealand firm.

The second card that I made with the stamps we were sent is a Fold Back card and the Designer Paper used is from the Lilac Avenue range from Kaisercraft and also a 6 x 6 paper pad.
Cardstock once again is from Flying colours range from The Warehouse Stationery store.
I used my Nestabilites Fancy Tags again
Copic markers used are V04,E50,Y08, and E33

blog catch up and new cards done over the last week

Hi there thought I would update my blog again with some more of my recent creations that I have made.
I had a card making class yesterday afternoon that was 30th March not 30th April as I have on the card descriptions sorry about that kind of getting a head of myself aren't I.
Ididn't get to class till 2pm as I had to do carer work before then but made up time rapidly which was good.
The first card we made was what I call the double fold back type card, very easy to make but also effective and the kind of cards I like doing as well. The next card we did was a male birthday card as aren't they always the hardest ones to do but I liked what we did also.
The last card we made was a simple butterfly and flowers Sympathy card. Now I have some more ideas to play with
I am also including my first ever Pinwheel card that I had made earlier in the week. Some of the ladies on one of my Yahoo lists had been talking about this kind of card so I googled it and found easy instructions to make it and came up with this gatefold version.
Have also been buying from one of my local retailers her Kaisercraft monthly kits and a couple of the cards
I am showing you come from the Lilac Avenue Kaisercraft collection. I am a big fan of Kaisercraft so think I will start getting these kits from www://artfullcrafts.co.nz as you get a really good deal with them.

I do care work with Ivan twice weekly and thought this was a special occasion for them so that

Card maps made for a group that i swap with

Over the weekend I have made these three card maps for one of my internet Yahoo groups that I am on.
Once a month we have a card map sketch in which we have to make a card from. Our list Mum this year decided to tweek some of last year's cards and use these as our sketches for the card maps this year.
I think with the three I have done I am up to May now with these card maps.
Another lady does up the themes for the year for the group's swaps which means we can get ahead and get them done ahead if we so choose to do so.

Easel birthday card and a tri shutter 25th wedding anniversary card

I made just in the last week this birthday easel card that was a swap for one of my groups that has been running for 11 years, the theme was of course birthday and had to have 11 on it some where as well as either candles or balloons so this is why I used this great Hero Arts I think the image was birthday cupcake image.
The tri shutter card kind of evolved as I went although I had the basis of this card planned but I wanted to use 25 some where on the card and as well, flowers, hearts and butterflies. To me they all seem to go together and of course I was trying out my new flourishes nestabilities set with the silver flourish that you see.

card maps and recycled cards

Here I am back again still busy with my cards but still enjoying it which is more important as well.
The black and white card here is for a card map swap on one of my Yahoo groups. I didn't have border paper so googled it and found this piano border so that then became a black and white card map. I had wondered what I was going to do for but once I found that border paper then the card just evolved from that. I like that when it happens like this from time to time.
The other card that I have made is a recycled Thinking of you card for one of the charities I am making cards for this year and that is something else that I am doing a lot of this year too.

Hi everybody well back to posting again and I hope to do it more often. I know I procrasinate about it but life is back to normal now as Alastair moved away from home on Monday and as gone south to live so its just us oh what bliss that is as well.

I really value Libby as a true Internet friend, always there offering good advice and great confidence comments to me when I need them the most.
For this award I have to say 8 things about me that you may not know about me and then pass this award onto 8 more bloggers so here goes.
1. Have just become a Design team member of SendASmile4Kids challenge blog and are enjoying the challenges as well.
2. In the process of getting a new car for us a lovely Peugot 206 which is nice and light and zippy to drive too.
My partner and I have just come back to the two of us in the household now as the 19 and a half year old older son of partner has moved out at last. Yah peace blissful peace at last.
3. I'm on the countdown now to going to Andre Rieu's concert in Christchurch on the 8th May. can't wait as I so love his music its very soothing and relaxing too.
4. Just recently brought an e-reader and are really enjoying using this newer way of reading as well.
5.Looking at going to the local pool to start aqua gym classes which will involve water walking as I call it
6. I am a great aunt to two sets of twins. The younger ones live in Melbourne Australia and the latest video I saw of them on Face Book is just wonderful.
7. Just had a lovely day trip down to Timaru today. Love doing travel like this breaks the monotony of home life for sure.
8. am becoming addicted to using Skype as well.

Day Out Friday 14th January 2011

yesterday we went over to Akaroa for the day. Had a lovely trip over in the car, lovely scenery and excellent driving weather to add to a lovely day.
When we got to Akaroa we sat on the beach front and had a lovely picnic type lunch which was nice and then we went for a walk along the wharf. It was great to see families sitting on the edge of the wharf fishing and even more great to see the charter boats going out to the Heads of the harbour to take people dolphin watching. This is my big wish for 2011 to go back and take that trip to get up close and personal well you know what I mean to see the dolphins really close not to actually swim with them as I can't swim in any case.
The only bad thing about the day was that Alastair came back and came back in a mood at that all becau people are trying to warn him the bad things about going out with a 14 year old that he has just met and whom he and her thinks are in love with each other. So I guess one day he will really grow up and realise that this is not the right thing to do.

Well have been really on a card making and journal making roll since the New year. I think its because my health has come right again and I am now over the bladder infection I had leading up to Christmas and of course all of the stuff I went through with all of that.
Today has been a lovely day as we went down to Lake Hood about 12 minutes drive out of Ashburton, the boys went kite flying something that Murray hadn't done in years and Ian I think was his first time kite flying. Made us all feel like young kids again that is for sure.
Just got word today of our first card making workshop here in Ashburton and that is on the 5th February. This time we will be only making 6 cards so the pressure won't be as much for me as the 9 card workshop was just before Christmas.
Well on to showing the cards now.

I made this Happy anniversary card for the first challenge on this new bloghttp://sendasmile4kidschallenge.blogspot.com/
I used red cardstock, white cardstock which I put through the nestabilites scalloped rectangles, the heart was cutting using Cuttlebug heart diecut and run through the Cuttlebug with the heart diecut embossing folder.
The Happy anniversary is a stamp that I have had for many years.

Hi every one well that is Christmas over for anothe year and I am so happy to see the end of it as well.
I always feel so affected by it as its supposed to be a time for family and for children and my siblings never think of me at this time so it can be very hurtfull for me so once Christmas is out of the way I tend to relax more and get creating again as well.
Its been enjoyable having Ian with us too he doesn't go back to Auckland till 21st January and now Alastair is heading south to Oamaru for around 10 days or so so hey I consider that to be a holiday on its own actually.
Here are the latest creations that I have to show you all.

cards made at December 4 2010 workshop

Iwent to another workshop yesterday December 4th here in town that was from 10 to 4pm. We made 8 or 9 cards and little Christmas gift thingies. I have decided that 4 hours is enough for me I was starting to get confused by the time the last couple of cards came along, we were also using a mixture of inches and centimetres for the measuring and scoring of cards and this made it quite hard for me to comprehend but i guess I didn't do so bad when you see the cards
The first one is a variation on the easel card and I must say rather easy to do considering, the next one that we did was the diamond fold Christmas card the worst part of this was the measuring and folding once again as the decorating part was easy it was mainly all stickers this time round. The next card we did was the trifold cascade style card, another easy one to do really and again it could be decorated whichever way you chose to do it, we seemed to use stickers mostly at the workshop yesterday. Another card we made was what they called a simple 3 piece card the worst part to this was the measuring and cutting out of the niches that seemed so fiddly to me. I really enjoyed making the double tri fold cascade card and out them all that we did yesterday that is my favourite one, the other card we did but I didn't get to take pictures of was a teepee card.

Reverb #10 reflect and manifest on 2010 Prompt December Day 1

This prompt is called one word. Write one word to describe what the year 2010 has been for you.
Well for me it has to be Disaster. Disaster you ask well first of all on September 4 2010 at 4.35am life in Canterbury New Zealand as we know it changed forever, the landscape changed, people's lives changed as we were struck by a 7.1 magnitude earthquake with widespread serious damage done in Christchurch and surrounding rural areas. Luckily no lives were lost as a result of the initial earthquak but homes have either been destroyed and in lots of cases so much damage that people have had to find other accommodation.
One thing though it pull the whole community together too but like the phoneix rising from the ashes so now is Chirstchurch and Canterbury.

The second disaster to hit the South Island and indeed all of New Zealand has been the Pike river mining disaster in which 29 lives were lost through a mine explosion.
this has been absolutely devasting for all concerned because we all hoped that at some stage they would be still alive but two days later another mine explosion occured and it was then realised that there would be no one then alive from that second blast.

So yes Disaster has been a word to stand out for me in 2010 and how do I hope that it can change in 12 months time hmmmm that is hard to think about but we now have to look forward to a Royal Wedding, the Rugby World Cup and hopefully some other happier times for the country as a whole. I guess the icing on the cake would be New Zealand winning the Rugby World Cup as they haven't won it since the first time it happened, can't remember how many years ago now though.

Pike River coal Mine Tribute

This poem was sent to me and written about the 29 coal miners who died on Friday 19th November 2010 at the Pike River Coal Mine.
This poem is very poignant I think and I wanted to share it with my blogger friends world wide.

THE MEN OF PIKE

They came from near and far away

The men of Pike to work that day

The afternoon shift way down deep

Beneath the mountains oh so steep

A long way in but further out

The afternoon shift sets about

A job not flash but hard and trying

A job that holds the risk of dying

From seventeen to sixty two

They start their shift to see it through

For one his first, for all their last

How could they know there’d be a blast?

For all at once no siren whining

Suddenly the worst in mining

Dust and rubble fill the air

A loader driver thrown clear

I went to a card making workshop this Saturday 13th November at my local craft shop.
It ran from 10 through to 4pm and I had a lovely day.
We did six projects and my favourite has to be the flag book. Couldn't get over how easy it was to make yet tutorials I have seen through the Internet make it look very complicated.

Hi there made this card yesterday for a colour combo swap for one of my groups.
The colours are yellow which I did for the background but doesn't show up in the photo I took, orange for the bird die cut that I used for the focal point and the red was put through my labels nesties that I have then run through the trusty bug.

Found my mojo again

wEll have found my stamping mojo again after it had gone for a short walkabout. Its also good to learn what browsing at Google can do for inspiration as well.
I have cards to show that have been quick to produce hence giving me the kick start for getting back into regular card making again.
The pink birthday card was made in 10 minutes using my trusty Cuttlebug and blooms and dots folder I think it is plus Kaisercraft blong flower.
the christmas card also took less than 10 minutes to make as I had the base card partly done and just needed to add the sentiment for it.
the music card is for a card swap I am in this week and and again using the Allegro Cuttlebug embossing folder.
The other birthday card I made I used the Happy birthday embossing folder on metallic cream paper and a take on the tri fold card.
I do hope that you can come and take a peek at what I have done over the weekend.
I had to redo the post as I mucked up the picture uploads maybe sending the pictures in email is not suitable for this computer I am thinking.

September what a month of highs and lows

well I am back here to do an entry for my blog. Hadn't realised it had been around six weeks since I had actually blogged even but then mind you this has been because of all the things that have happened in my life since then.
Saturday 4 September 4.35am 2010 will be a day etched in my life for ever now. That was the day that we in Canterbury woke up to what turned out to be a devastating 7.1 magnatude earthquake. Gee it felt like it was going on for 10 or more minutes but in actually fact they tell us now that it only lasted for 40 seconds and it was a different earthquake too it wasn't a shaking kind of earthquake but more like someone was pushing the bed backwrds and forwards. We in Ashburton have fared much better off then the people of Canterbury and Christchurch in particular. Christchurch CBD will never have the same feel now as a lot of the old buildings have been demolished by the earthquake. the most amazing thing about this is that no one died in the actual earthquake. One person has since died from an earthquake related heart attack so as Bob Parker mayor of Christchurch keeps saying its amazing that from a city of 500,000 people no one was killed.
We still get after shocks but down here not as often as they have been having them in Christchurch and the surrounding area.
On the 18th of September 2010 I found out that my nephew Bruce and wife Rachel had their twins born. A boy now named Issac and a girl now named Freya. Both the babies are still in hospital because of being a bit under done but are now drinking well with being bottle fed rather than being tube fed so that is good news to hear I reckon.
The other piece of bad news for me was the cancellation of the upcoming concert tour by Andre Rieu due to his a viral illness that has left him not fit enough yet to travel so it now means we have to wait a bit longer for him to come down to Christchurch but the other thought on this is it gives the city time to get back to as much normality as it can do.
We now wait in eagerness for the announcement of the new tour dates. Our tickets will still be void so that is a good thing.
I am hoping that I can now remember to come back to blogging a bit more regular from now on.

One sheet wonder Christmas cards made over the weekend

I've had another lovely relaxing weekend this one just gone with making some 35 odd cards for the City Mission charity project that I am currently working on.
I found this great A4 template sorry don't remember the lady's blog address but when I do find it again I will certainly give her credit for it as I love it.
I made two sets of cards using a sheet of A4 Pohutakawa flowered paper on white cardstock and another two sets of Christmas cards also using white cardstock with blue backgrounds and mainly using stickers of snowflakes for this one as well.
They are starting to get addictive for me but the quickest way by far when having to make 200 cards for charity. I think I have about 80 cards made all up now so that is good I feel.

I had a great afternoon card making with tutor Lorraine and the girls this afternoon. We did three straight forward cards and then Lorraine showed us how to do the Spring up ( I think that is what its called) fold that I had been having trouble with for a while. Now I hope I am able to do this on my own at home. Have found this one of the most challenging folds out for me.
The first card we did at class is the fold back card using this floral stamp that was stamped on acetate and we cut it out and then we also cut out the red flower,stuck the two together with a glue dot and used the script background to attach it to.
The next card was a black and white hummbird card very simple as Lorraine had already done the kindy glitz part for us we just had to round the corners and stick it all together.
The next card we did was very basic but simple and as I say effective and the photo says it all really.
I have done this Christmas card as part of the 200 that I am doing for the Christchurch city Mission. I used my Christmas Cuttlebug folder for this cut it up and used the top part of the folder, smooched over the green ink and attached it to the card. Very quick and easy to do.

Cards made over the last two days

Hi there have been busy making some more cards again over the last couple of days. Two are for a design team call that I have decided to try over at http://icsketches.blogspot.com/.
One is a Thinking of you card to send to a family whose wife/mother was on one of my Yahoo groups and who died suddenly the other day. The other cards were cards that I just played around with. One took me 10 minutes to make as I used stickers for this.
I have been writing to various organisations around New Zealand asking them if they would like home made cards donated to them to distribute to people who maybe are suffering from Terminal Cancer, or who are unable to afford to buy cards that kind of thing and last night I had a reply back from the Christchurch City Mission saying that they would love to have cards to distribute at Christmas time. They suggested around 200 or whatever amount I felt comfortable with making so am going to make a start on this soon as I realise Christmas is now fast approaching us.

A weekend of card making

It was a good weekend to get caught up on card swaps that I signed up for for the month of July. I had to do a music one so used the Cuttlebug Allegro folder for the background and printed off some free sheet music to use as I didn't have anything else suitable here.
Also did a Thank You card using the fold back fold and turquoise cardstock for this card.
Had to make a direct to paper background card as another swap so used my Versa colour inks in violet, lilac and pink for this. I love going back to some of the older techniques like this and the huffing technique which I did a wee while ago. They are so very easy to do but you ted to forget about using them with all the new stuff that is around just now.
I had to make a card with the theme of Time so used my favourite fob watch stamp for that and the purple card is for a sketch challenge and a monochromatic purple swap I had to do.

Well can't believe that Ali has been at the LSV course at Burnham Military Camp for six weeks now and has his March out parade and Graduation ceremony tomorrow 10th July. Am hoping to get some photos of Ali in his Army uniform so that I can do a mini scrapbook album of him .
I have been doing some cards in the last week or too for various swaps that I am in this month. That is one thing about not working as I was I have more time to do these now and instead of rushing them can really plan them out more.
Oh and talking of work the Good Lord as answered my prayers and blessed me with some more respite care work for which I am very thankful for.
The cards that I am uploading are various ones, one is a card map with the tag as the central focal point,
there is one iwth just a single flower stamp and sentiment ,no background no designer paper no embellishments. I did enjoy doing this one and also made use of the huffing technique that I learned again at card class earlier this year. I made two more Christmas cards both using Cuttlebug Christmas folders that I purchased from here http://www.ohmycrafts.com/. I specially like the Winter Woods folder but also am starting to like the Christmas Wreath one as well.

I had an enjoyable relaxing weekend this one just gone and managed to get some cards made for different swaps and challenges I am taking part in this week.
Not only that I have finished knitting another hat for my church's winter programm that of Operation Cover Up. Each winter volunteers in the church family knit peggy squares to be made up into blankets and as well hats and scarves. These usually go to places like Romania and other countries in Europe where they are most needed. So far I have done two children's hats and have just started on the third one today.
The cards that I made over the weekend were for sketches one was for my Paper Follies group over at Yahoo groups and the other one was for I did it Creations forum. I think there is another part to the new name of the forum but have trouble remembering it at presemt.
The landscape brown toned card was made for a swap at Paper Follies and I am really happy with the way this one turned out.
The second card the red and cream one is made for the sketch at I did it Creations forum.

Time to blog again

Here it is nearly a month since I last made a blog entry and a whole heap of stuff has happened in that time too.
I have now finished working as a school cleaner. This will give me more time to create and take classes go to SENZ next month in Christchurch and go to Timaru to do the odd class down there as well.
Boy the weather has gotten really cold here this past week Winter has definitely arrived for sure.
Alastair has had his first week at the LSV programme at Burnham Military camp so hopefully it has gone well for him. We are hoping to be able to go to his March Out parade on the 10th July. He also turns 19 whilst he is in there too.
I have got lots of cards to share with you all so might have to do all of this in two uploads I think.
Have been doing local classes atThe Little Craft shop with Liz and Lorraine and really enjoying these and today submitted an application to hopefully become a design team member for a local scrapbooking shop. One never knows what the future might hold HUH.

Christmas cards made today

Hi all about time I added to my blog again. Life has been very busy and very full on of late. I have put in my resignation for my school cleaning job taking effect as from 28th May.
Have had problems with Alastair as well he hadn't been paying his court reparations and the Project Turnaround man rung him during the week saying that he needed to have these paid before returning to court on 17th May so Carol being the caring generous kind of person that she is said that she would help him out by paying $200 for him over the next two weeks and his father paying the other $100 with the proviso he pay us back. That was fine and got sorted then blow me down there has been some more trouble over the weekend with a 16 year old girl making threatening and abusive phone calls to not only him but the whole household so had to get the police involved. its all sorted now hopefully.
On top of all this I have managed to remain kind of cool and relaxed by doing some card making.
I made a couple of bookmarks for swaps I am in, two Christmas cards one trying something a bit different using different sizes of double sided tape and sprinkling gold glitter onto it and shaking off the excess, I ran through the cuttlebug my newest Christmas greeting folder and stuck this onto the card and also adhered the Kaiser rhinestone Christmas Tree.

Art Journal pages I have just done

Hi there I have just completed my first double A5 size layout of my new Art Journal about me the prompt that we were given to do was "Happiness Is", and this is what I finally decided to do. I mulled over this theme for quite some time as when I really sat and was truthful about this it was hard to come up with something that means "Happiness" to me. I seem to have had a life full of a lot of sorrow over the last 30 odd years so based my theme on what in my life gives me happiness.
I hope that you can see this in this layout.
Bring it on now I say as I get the fuller picture on what we are supposed to be doing.

Star book Home version that I made

Last week at Lorraine's card making class we made Star books something that I had been wanting to do for a very long time but felt it too hard too do so when Lorraine got us to make one at class last Tuesday I had to come home and make another one so I wouldn't forget how to do it and believe me they are really easy to do the way that we did it.

Here is the one I did at home slightly different to what we made at class as I added photos of the Forrest walk we did back in January down at Peel Forest plus I used some Friendship quotes and flowers for embellishments. I am nore than happy with the way it turned out. The photos I took show the different aspects of the book as well. enjoy

Hi there I have decided to do again another challenge over at http://www.palspaperarts.com/challenges/
their theme for this week was Spring. Here is my card for that challenge.The cardstock is a deep pink from source unknown, the light pink caedstock is from Flying Colours(Warehouse Stationery), I put the light pink card through the Cuttlebug and used the Victorian embossing folder for this. The oval is a Carl punch, the pink stones are from Kaisercraft, the Spring stamp is a Hero Arts one, the pink and white ribbon is from Sullivans.net in Australia and the flowers from one of my Ezi Cut die sets. I enjoyed making this card and hope that you like what I have done as well.

Hi all this week's challenge over at http://thepinkelephantchallenge.blogspot.com/ is to use green in your colour combo so for this I did dark purple, pink and used a strip of green cardstock which I ran through my Cuttlebug using the trusty Swiss Dots folder. The layout is based on a challenge I did a short while ago but have forgotten where this was.The bunny stamp is from Sullivans.net The Happy Easter stamp is from an unknown source.

The Pink elephant challenge #55

Here is my entry for this week's challenge over at this site http://thepinkelephantchallenge.blogspot.com/I also had signed up on one of my stamping sites for a swap using 3 designer papers so decided to go for it and use The Pink elephant sketch for this other swap.
I used Royal blue cardstock from Cardmakers.co.nz here in New Zealand of course and the designer paper comes from one of our huge supermarket stores called The Warehouse. Rhinestones were from Kaisercrafts and the birds in flight stamp from Montarga Stamps a New Zealand stamp store that makes their own stamps.

Hi there here is another challenge that I have taken part in this week over at http://www.palspaperarts.com/challenges/. I used one of the new Cuttlebug folders I got back last month, ran the white card through the Cuttlebug then shaded it with this lilac versacolour cube.
I used this pink cardstock that I got from one of our cut price stationery shops here and I also used the Spellbinders buttefly die for the butterfly, I used the black and white ribbon from Spotlight and stamped the Happy birthday on to it at the bottom. It was simple to make and this is what I love about using the Cuttlebug machine.

Hi all here is card for this week'http://thepinkelephantchallenge.blogspot.com/s challenge #54 which was just to use ribbon. I had to make a black,white and a touch of red card for one of my internet groups February swaps and also combined it with TPE challenge. I used a white card for the based then ran the black cardstock through the Cuttlebug using the Bubbles folder I think its called. I cut out also using the Cuttlebug and the vintage corners dies two red corners and attached these to the black piece of cardstock. The ribbon was left over from a bits and pieces swap and I thought that this was just the right piece for this challenge. The white Hello is also a Cuttlebug die. I had fun making this card. Enjoy

Back again to share with you my Asian doll stair step card that I made at home this afternoon. Found it much easier doing it at home and as I said I love doing these kinds of cards. Where do the ideas come from I am always wondering. Any way enjoy the card with the Asian dolls.

Hi again thought I would share with you all the card that I made yesterday at card class with Lorraine. Its a stair step card with images of shoes being the focal point here. I like doing cards like this with the mountain and valley fold that make up the pattern for this card and I loved the deep red cardstock that we used for it as well. Enjoy the card

Iris folding classes Monday 8th February

Hi there been a bit remiss on blogging this week but its been a busy week with loads going on as well.
I did get to card making class on monday and Pat had us do Iris folding which I do love to do and here is the card that I did. We used a rectangle shape and I completed it using these love autumn toned flower trims.
I tried to do a pear shaped iris folded card at home but it didn't work out for me. Guess its a case of practise,practise practise till I can get it right HUH!!!

Pals Paper Arts challenge #28 card I made

These colors all co ordinate nicely together and using the Spellbinders Butterfly template and my trusty Cuttlebug Divine Swirls folder seem to just make this card I feel. Hope you enjoy looking at it also.

I have been having fun creating cards this week using some techniques I don't use very often
I went along to my weekly card class on Monday and did these two Sprielli and Paper Pricking cards.
We used the shapes cut out from the nestabilites circles range.
The cute girly image card is my interpretation of a Bright and Sassy swap I am on.
The Valentines card was inspired from a book I have just brought called "Flower Power
Papercrafts by Julie Hickey. This book has some great cards and other projects in it
And the two Iris folded cards are me just practising for the Iris folding class we are
Doing this coming Monday.

Hi there this is my take on the challenge over at http://www.palspaperarts.com/challenges/. This week we had to do anything but a card so I did this canvas montarge with photos from Christmas and new Year's Day that I had taken. I decorated it with these flowers and I am never sure where they have come from but love them all the same and of course the light green pearls are from Kaisercraft. I reckon their pearls and rhinestones are the best.

I made it using 8.5 x 11 inch cardstock in this vanilla colour, stripped

Paper laced flower card

I went to my first card making class Monday 11^th January 2010, we basically had our old Friday afternoon group

Back. We made this card using a paper lacing technique. We put the designer strip of paper through the Ezi

Cut die and embossing machine to punch out the flowers. We then used a rectangle template to cut the window

Out and from this the punched out flowers of different sizes were stuck together over the window part using

PVA glue. The flower centres were from diamantes that Liz had in the shop. It only took us an hour to make

From scratch and so we then just talked and got the next lot of classes organised for what we wanted to

And organised that we would get together at Liz's craft shop on a Friday to do our own thing. It would

Include a session of show and tell as well.

Mainly blue bookmark

I made this Mainly Blue bookmark for a Cuttlebug swap that I am on.

I am very happy with the end result as well. I used my Ezi Cut die

Cutting and embossing machine to cut out the bookmark and then

Ran it through the Cuttlebug using my trusty Swiss dots folder.

I used this blue and gold ribbon brought from The Warehouse

And the stones are from Kaiser craft I think.

First Christmas card for 2010

Hi all I have managed to make my first Christmas card for 2010 this week. Thank goodness for our trusty Cuttlebugs and folders

As I used the Lace Christmas Tree fold for this card and matted it onto navy blue cardstock and used some blue and gold

Ribbon that I had on hand plus some Kaiser blue rhinestons. I reckon it looks pretty good too considering.

First card and blog mini make over for 2010-01-01 Well today is the 1^st January 2010. Where did this last decade go to huh.

Murray and I went for a mini bush walk this afternoon up at Awa Awa Rata Reserve about 15 minutes west of methven and just up from the

Mt Hutt ski field. Had a lovely walk and we didn't get all the way up the track that I wanted to go to either. Not quite there fitness wise so

The Pink elephant colour challenge #31 and the Mojo Monday sketch challenge #103

I have combined two card challenges here with this card for these 2 sketch and colour challenges that I am taking part in this week.

The Pink elephant challenge for this week is a colour challenge of red, yellow black and white. and so I combined that with the Mojo Monday challenge sketch for this week also.

I used red cardstock for the base card, yellow core'dinations cardstock for the first layer, the black strips were cuttlebugged using my trusty Swiss dots foldera and the Hi/hello stamp is from Hero Arts. Hope you like my take.

80th birthday card made for my Uncle Graham

My Uncle Graham turns 80 this next weekend and I wanted to do a special card for him reaching this mileston so I designed this card using the Happy Birthday Cuttlebug A2 embossing folder, this die from the Making memories Slice die cutting machine that looks like a house and the red cardstock as the card base. My uncle is very much a home person as well as loving to play golf watch rugby and cricket and Harness horse racing and as I had used gof and rugby cards for him for past birthdays I decided it was time to do something different this year.

Here is my take on the http://thepinkelephantchallenge.blogspot.com/ for their challenge #30 which was the recipe challenge where you had to make a card using two squares, ribbon and something that sparkles.

It took me a few days to work this one out and of course I just had to try my new Making Memories slice die cutting machine to make the squares with rather than the Nestabilities scalloped squares that I have.

My Australian friend Libby http://libbysscrapz.blogspot.com/ has given me this new award. Libby has an amazing blog and well worth visitng. I love her Cuttlebug cards that she is constantly making and hearing and seeing the photos of her husband Bob and her family as well.

Made some cards today

Well I have had a nice afternoon in my craft room this afternoon and managed to make 3 cards one of these being another Christmas card in which I used the Cuttlebug Christmas tree folder and trimmed it with blue rhinestones and some blue Christmas ribbon.

I had also made a Wedding Anniversary card for a friend as well. I used one of the Cuttlebug flower border folders shaded it with Red Versacolour Ink and used some paper flowers from Kaisercrafts. I did this card using the gatefold style.

The third card I made is for one of my August swaps that I am on. It is using vellum so I rolled this through the Bug using my new Victorian Cuttlebug embossing folder which seems to work pretty well with vellum as I have found. I also used Kaisercraft blue flowers for this too and some nice blue patterned ribbon that I brought from my local scrapbook store.
